FGB simulator was developed as part of the ISS RS mockup facility and put into operation in August of 1998. This simulator is intended for a crew training on fulfilling a flight program aboard the Functional Cargo Block of ISS RS.

The full-scale FGB mock-up is used as an operators’ workstation. It is equipped with the models of the control panels and full-scale mock-ups of units,. The simulator is equipped with its own monitoring and control console. The console is used during the autonomous training on the FGB simulator or as a backup in order to increase the number of operator's workstations for performing joint or integrated training, using the full content of the ISS RS mockup facility.
